2010 Dodge Challenger
Our Rating:

The Dodge Challenger combines muscle car flair with modern technology. Inline with its heritage, this latest Challenger features muscular styling, a spacious cabin and a choice of V6 and V8 engines. In contrast to its traditional namesake, it is equipped with the latest safety features and a modern independent suspension. Thanks to the latter, the Challenger manages to provide both a comfortable ride and surefooted handling. Due to its heft, it is not quite as quick around corners as some of its competitors, though.

The Challenger is available with three engines. The base 3.5-liter V6 produces 250 hp and comes mated to an automatic only. The 5.7-liter V8 available on the R/T trim provides much better performance, thanks to 372 hp with the automatic transmission and 376 hp with the manual. The top-of-the-line SRT8 comes powered by an even stronger 6.1-liter V8 with 425 hp that is mated to both manual and automatic transmissions.

Changes for 2010

For 2010, all Dodge Challenger models come standard equipped with Electronic Stability Control and ABS. SE and R/T models equipped with the Sound Group I & II get Chrysler's Uconnect hands-free communication system and steering-wheel mounted audio controls. R/T models also add automatic headlamps, LED cupholder and door handle lights, as well as a new optional Super Track Pack that includes 20-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires, front and rear self-leveling shocks, a larger rear anti-roll bar, a 3.06 rear-axle ratio, performance brake linings, and a turn-off option for the ESC. The Challenger SRT8 model is available in a new limited-edition Plum Crazy version that features a unique Plum Crazy Pearl Coat exterior paint color with a plum seat-stripe insert and a serialized dash plaque.
