The Ford Escape is a popular compact SUV that blends ruggedness with every-day useability. On the outside, the Escape looks as tough as its larger siblings, while the boxy shape provides for a versatile and spacious cabin with seating for up to five. On the road, the Escape offers proper handling and generally a smooth ride, that suffers on rough surfaces, however. Power comes from an efficient 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with 171 hp mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Available on higher trims is a 3.0-liter V6 with 240 hp that is mated to the automatic only. The frugal choice of the lineup is the Hybrid. All-wheel-drive is available across the lineup.
