The Jeep Cherokee is a capable SUV powered by either a fuel-efficient 2.4-liter inline-4 with 184 hp or a powerful 3.2-liter V6 with 271 hp, both mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and available with all-wheel-drive. The Cherokee offers seating for five in a spacious interior and benefits from a fine ride and excellent off-road capability, especially in Trailhawk trim.
Changes for 2017
The Jeep Cherokee comes standard with HID headlights on all but Sport models for 2017. The Overland trim now upgrades to a leather-wrapped instrument panel; power heated and ventilated front seats with driver's memory; Berber floor mats; Nappa leather seat-upholstery; and an Alpine premium audio system featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth, Navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM Travel Link, SiriusXM Traffic, and Uconnect Access Advantage. New option packages for the Overland include the Heavy Duty Protection Group and Trailer Tow Prep Package. The Altitude adds 18-inch Gloss Black aluminum wheels and a leather-wrapped steering-wheel to the Sport's equpiment, while the High Altitude adds the same wheels and Gloss Black exterior treatments to the Limited.

The Jeep Cherokee Sport comes standard with air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, cloth seat-upholstery, 6-way front bucket seats, split-folding bench rear seat, tilting and telescoping steering-wheel, AM/FM radio, wireless connectivity, ABS, stability control, front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags, knee airbag, rear side airbags, tire-pressure monitor and parking assist.
Features available on other trims include dual-zone automatic air conditioning, navigation system, leather seat-upholstery, power front seat adjustments, heated front seats, ventilated front seats, memory driver seat, heated steering-wheel, HD-radio, satellite-radio, internet access, emergency communication system and Xenon headlights.
