The Jeep Grand Cherokee is an icon among mid-size SUV's. In its latest iteration, it preserves the trademark rugged looks and excellent off-road capability courtesy of a sophisticated optional four-wheel-drive system, but lacks the on-road finesse of some competitors. Engine choices ranging from an adequate 3.7-liter V6 with 210 hp up to an outstanding 6.1-liter Hemi V8 with 420 hp, all mated to 5-speed automatic transmissions, allow for a towing capacity of up to 7,400 lbs. Inside, the Grand Cherokee seats five in a well-insulated cabin.
