The Kia Niro is an affordable and practical subcompact SUV that combines a high stance with seating for five passengers and an impressively frugal hybrid powertrain that comprises a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder and an electric motor driving an adequate overall output of 139 hp to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Niro features good handling and a spacious interior with excelletn rear seat room and visibility. A plug-in version with an electric driving range of 26 miles is available, whereas AWD is not.
Changes for 2018
The Kia Niro adds a plug-in version with a electric-only range of up to 26 miles for 2018. Touring models now come standard with HID headlights, a wireless phone charger, and a suite of advanced driver assistance features. Also new is a limited-production Niro Graphite Edition, which features exclusive Platinum Graphite exterior color, unique 18-inch gloss black wheels, black roof rails, metallic grille insert, Harman Kardon premium audio with subwoofer, 8-inch touchscreen navigation, and a 10-way power driver's seat.

The Kia Niro FE comes standard with dual-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, cloth seat-upholstery, 6-way front bucket seats, split-folding bench rear seat, tilting and telescoping steering-wheel, AM/FM/Satellite radio, wireless connectivity, ABS, stability control, front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags, knee airbag, tire-pressure monitor and parking assist.
Features available on other trims include adaptive cruise control, navigation system, power sunroof, leather seat-upholstery, power driver-seat adjustments, heated front seats, ventilated front seats, memory driver seat, heated steering-wheel, HD-radio and lane-departure warning.
