Newly introduced for the 2003 model-year, the Infiniti G35-based Infiniti FX
is available with V6 (FX35) and V8 (FX45) engines. Equal to its competitors
in the Luxury-SUV segment, the FX45 comes equipped with all-wheel drive, while
the base FX35 drives the rear-wheels only. Designed from the start for on-road
duty, the Infiniti FX lacks the off-road ability of most other SUVs, but compensates
with superior handling and aggressive styling.
Cheaper than the competition, the Infiniti FX comes well equipped with standard
265/60 R18 tires, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, front bucket and reclining
rear seats, and High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-Xenon headlights. Among other
things, optional packages add 20-in. wheels, leather seat-upholstery, RearView
monitor, Bose© audio system, DVD Mobile Entertainment System, navigation
system, and intelligent cruise control.
Prices for the base model started at
$34,200 for the FX35 with rear-wheel-drive. The Infiniti FX45 sold for $44,225
without options in 2003.
