With seating for six adults, the all-new 2006 Mazda 5 is positioned in the company's line-up below the larger MPV. Based on the smaller Mazda 3 compact, the Mazda 5 offers the interior space and versatility of a van with the dimensions and handling of a mid-size sedan.
Considering its price, the entry-level Mazda 5 Sport comes well equipped with air-conditioning; power windows and central locking; four-speaker stereo sytem with steering wheel-mounted sound controls; carpeted floor mats, cruise control, a tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, power outside mirrors, and a six-way adjustable driver's seat. Standard safety features include ABS; electronic brake-force distribution; front, side-impact, and curtain airbags; and adjustable head-restraints in all seating positions.
Prices start at $17,435 for the Mazda 5 Sport. The Touring model retails for 18,950 without option.
The 2006 Mazda 5 Van compares to the Chevrolet Uplander, Dodge Caravan, Ford Freestar, Honda Odyssey, Nissan Quest, and Toyota Sienna.
