For 2006, the Mazda 6 line-up is expanded by the 274hp all-wheel-drive MazdaSpeed6. The 6i and 6s models add the "Grand Sport" package, which combines the features of the "Sport" and "Grand Touring" packages. Also new are a 5-speed automatic for "i"-models and minor changes to the exterior color-palette.

Prices start at $19,110 for the base "i"-Sedan, and end at $29,925 for the Mazdaspeed6 "Grand Touring".

The 2006 Mazda 6 compares to the Mid-Size Ford Fusion, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy, and Toyota Camry.

For 2005, the Mazda 6's equipment packages are totally revised. Newly available are the "Sport" and "Grand Touring" models, both of which can be specified with either the 4-cylinder or the 6-cylinder engine. In addition, a 6-speed automatic replaces the old 5-speed on "s"-models. Standard features for the "Base" model and colors-choices for all models remain untouched.

For 2004, the Mazda 6 adds two new bodystyles, the 5-door and Sport Wagon. Engine and standard equipment choices remain more or less unchanged. The new bodystyles come factory-installed with the wider tires of the "s" models, though. In addition, the exterior color palette receives a thorough alteration, with the addition of four new colors mainly for the new bodystyles.

Optionally available, the "Luxury package" replaces the "Premium" and "Comfort" Packages. Also new is the "Security Package", which equips "i"-models with important safety features like ABS, EBD, TCS, and side-impact and side curtain-airbags.

All-new for 2003, the Mazda 6 replaces both, the Mazda 626 and Millenia. Powered by 4- and 6-cylinder engines, the Mazda 6 is the sporty choice in the mid-size sedan market. It is handsomely styled and handles well.

For 2003 the Mazda 6 is available only as a sedan. Standard features include air conditioning with filter; auto-off headlights; cloth seat-upholstery; cruise control; front bucket seats; leather steering-wheel and shift knob; power steering, windows, mirrors, and door locks; and keyfob remote keyless entry. Safety equipment includes height-adjustable head-restraints, front seat airbags, and front seatbelt pretensioners.
