All-new for 2004, the boxy Scion xB offers high standards of quality, durability,
reliability, and versatility. Built to Toyota-standards, it feels tight and
quiet, with little wind noise, and no squeaks or rattles. Powered by a 1.5l
4-cylinder with 108hp it's no hot rod, but the xB rides smoothly and is easy
to drive with good brakes and a smooth clutch. Thanks to its boxy layout, the
Scion xB offers a roomy interior and better cargo capacity than the majority
of its compact competition.
The 2004 Scion xB comes standard with power windows, mirrors, and door locks;
tilt steering wheel; tachometer and trip meter; 60/40-split folding and removable
rear seat; remote keyless entry; and a six-speaker, AM/FM/CD Pioneer sound system
engineered to read MP3 files and wired to accept an XM satellite radio receiver.
Safety is enhanced by standard anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist, Electronic
Brake-force Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, traction control, and front-seat
dual-stage airbags. Unfortunately, side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags
are not available.
Prices in 2004 started at $13,680 for the manual and $14,480 for the automatic version.
