The Volkswagen Passat is a mid-size sedan that benefits from a roomy interior and a broad choice of engines. The Passat comes well-equipped and well-built, with an upmarket interior and a composed ride. Power comes from a choice of two engines driving the front wheels: a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo with 174 hp and a 3.6-liter V6 with 280 hp, mated to 6-speed automatic and dual-clutch transmissions.
Changes for 2018
The Volkswagen Passat replaces the former 1.8-liter with a slightly stronger 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine for 2018, while bumper-to-bumper New Vehicle Limited Warranty is extended to six-years or 72,000-miles. 2.0T S trims are now available with a Driver's Assistance Package that includes Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) and Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, while Adaptive Cruise Control is now standard on all but S trims.
